Test your WIFI Privacy – Also how you can fix it!

Whenever I talk with someone about privacy and security, the first thing they say is “I have nothing to hide. Why should I care about my privacy?

Privacy is a human right inherent to all of us, that we are entitled to without discrimination.

You shouldn’t confuse privacy with secrecy. We know what happens in the bathroom, but you still close the door. That’s because you want privacy, not secrecy. Everyone has something to hide, privacy is something that makes you human.

What should I do?

First, you need to make a plan.

Trying to protect all your data from everyone all the time is impractical, expensive, and exhausting. But, don’t worry! Security is a process, and by thinking ahead you can put together a plan that’s right for you. Security isn’t just about the tools you use or the software you download. Rather, it begins with understanding the unique threats you face, and how you can counter them.

This process of identifying threats and defining countermeasures is called threat modeling, and it forms the basis of every good security and privacy plan.

My current network setup:

Well until Covid-19 Pandemic I personally never cared about privacy and network security, but during the lockdown in my country, I had countless free time, so I start researching more about it.

There are numerous ways to do it, with thousands of devices, but I realize if I want to cover all types it will be a huge article. Since my MBTI type is ISFJ (Defender), so I want everyone in my family/office to be protected. So here’s what I did:

Step 1 – I bought a NanoPi R2S, and hide my IP using a VPN. I am using the latest stealth technology proxies (vless+xtls) in which ISP or no one will know I am using VPN. If anyone is sniffing my traffic, they will see I am sending plain HTTPS traffic. Tutorial Here.

Step 2 – The second thing I did is stop “DNS LEAK”, block all kinds of advertisements and trackers using AdguardHome and NextDNS. Tutorial Here

Step 3 –  Choosing the right Browser. Personally, I use Brave Browser. Tutorial Here

Now Let’s test the network:

If you want to protect yourself and your loved ones, buy a NanoPI R2S/R4S/Doornet and step ahead towards privacy.
